PHILADELPHIA -- Junior guard Ibrahim Jaaber was named the Ivy League Player of the Week in men's basketball for January 2.
This marks the second time Jaaber has been honored by the conference office this season -- he was also Player of the Week for December 3 -- and the fourth time in his career.
Jaaber ledPenn in scoring in both games in Hawaii, as the Quakers defeated the University of Hawaii (58-55) and BYU-Hawaii (72-62). Against the Rainbows, he led all scorers with 24 points -- his third 20-point game of the season -- on 9-of-14 shooting from the field, and also contributed five rebounds and two steals. Against the Division IISeasiders, Jaaber again topped all scorers with 17 points, and had two more steals as he played the entire game.
Jaaber has led Penn in scoring each of the last seven games and eight of nine so far this season, and he entered the week leading the Ivy League with 19.2 ppg.
