PHILADELPHIA After spending one season as the assistant to the position, Jake Silverman has been promoted to Director of Football Operations for the University of Pennsylvania.
“Growing up in Philadelphia, it was hard to miss the successes of Coach Bagnoli and the Penn Football program,” Silverman said. “It is a great privilege to continue working with this tremendous coaching staff. I am honored to take on this role on Coach Bagnoli’s staff and to be a part of a program with such a storied tradition.”
“This is a great hire for us,” head coach Al Bagnoli said. “Jake has a terrific background coming out of Syracuse and with him already spending a year with us; it will be a seamless transition.”
The promotion calls for Silverman to take over the daily administrative operations of the football team. In addition to supervising and managing the recruiting process, Silverman will now serve as a preseason planner, road-trip manager, and the liaison for various departments at Penn. His duties will include overseeing all official visits, directing the video department, and coordinating all off-the-field activities related to the team.
A 2008 graduate of Syracuse University, Silverman served as a student assistant defensive line coach for his alma mater. He also had stints as an intern at the Philadelphia Eagles training camp in 2005 and 2007, and a marketing internship for Comcast SportsNet in 2004.
