Jaworksi Headed to NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships


Randall Island, N.Y. - Junior Courtney Jaworksi of the Penn men's track team is headed to the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif. after taking third in the 800m on Saturday at the NCAA East Regional hosted by Manhattan College.

Jaworski crossed the finish line in 1:50.10 to take third in the 800m final. He heads to his second outdoor championships after taking second in the same event at last years Regional qualifier.

Also heading to the NCAA championships will be freshman Kyle Calvo in the long jump. The rookie took second in the long jump on Friday afternoon with a leap of 7.61m(24'11.75"). His jump is the third best in Penn school history.

Senior Neal Wojdowski competed in the pole vault, but failed to clear a height.

After 16 scored events, the Red and Blue stand in 12th place with 14 points.

The 2005 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held June 8-11 at the Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex.
