BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior Courtney Jaworski finished third at Saturday's NCAA Regional to automatically qualify for the NCAA Cross Country NationalChampionships,while the Quakers took fifth place as a team.
Jaworski crossed the line in a time of 30:08.3, less than five seconds behind winner Fleet Hower of Georgetown. Sophomore Brian Goldberg also placed in the top-25, finishing 21st in 31:02.1.
Ian Foley (44th, 31:02.1), Breton Bonnette (45th, 31:38.9), Brian Trembley (50th, 31:47.8), Reid McEwen (53rd, 31:51.0) and Daniel Howard (82nd, 32:28.4) rounded out the Quakers' fifth-place showing. Penn finished with 163 points, 49 points back of fourth-place La Salle.
Georgetown (45 points) and American (93 points)finished first and second and automatically qualified forthe NCAA National Cross Country Championships, which will run Nov. 21 at Indiana State in Terre Haute, Ind. The top four finishers not on those two teams qualified as individuals.
