PHILADELPHIA - Jessica Fuccello, a freshman forward on the Penn women's soccer team, was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week. The announcement was made Monday by the Ivy League office.
In addition, she was named to the SoccerBuzz.com Elite Team of the Week.
Fuccello scored the first two goals of her collegiate career this weekend, and both of them were match-winners. The first goal came Friday night in the 72nd minute and capped a run that saw the Quakers overcome a 2-0 deficit at UNC-Greensboro with three-straight goals. On Sunday, Fuccello had the only goal in a 1-0 win at East Carolina, which improved Penn to 4-0-1.
Fuccello also had an assist in Friday night's win at UNCG, giving her five points for the season.
Penn -- which is ranked No. 9 this week in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region poll -- plays at Temple Wednesday afternoon, then opens Ivy League play this weekend with Harvard at Rhodes Field.
