Pink Zone Promotions
PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania's women's basketball team encourages you to join them in the fight against breast cancer at its annual "Pink Zone" game on Saturday, Feb. 12 against the visiting Columbia Lions. Tip off is at 7 p.m. and all proceeds from the game will be donated to Penn's Rena Rowan Breast Center at the Abramson Cancer Center.
Fans are encouraged to wear something pink to the game and pink pom-poms will be given away to those in attendance. Raffle tickets will be sold as well to give fans the opportunity to win season tickets, a basketball signed by the team and a number of different prizes. The team will also be selling pink Penn women's basketball t-shirts at the game.
In addition, there will be an "Ask The Expert" panel from the Rena Rowan Breast Center so fans can ask any questions they may have about breast cancer screenings, treatment and survivorship.
Finally, there will be free pizza for Penn students starting at 6:30 p.m. up until the start of the game.
The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) started "Pink Zone" in a unified effort to assist in raising breast cancer awareness. The initiative, formerly known as "Think Pink," began in 2007 with more than 120 schools unified in its efforts.
