PRINCETON, N.J. – For her exceptional performance over the weekend, University of Pennsylvania freshman Jurie Joyner was named this week’s Ivy League Rookie of the Week. Announced on Tuesday by the League, Joyner shares this week’s award with Brown’s freshman pitcher Katie Orona.

Currently, Joyner is fourth in the League with a .422 batting average and is tied for sixth with 11 RBI. Hitting .643 in the last five games, the McDonough, Ga. native hit six doubles, four of which were against Harvard. Joyner also cleared her first collegiate home run on the first pitch during her first at bat in game two against the Crimson, helping the team to a 15-14 victory over Harvard and a three-game winning streak.
So far against Ivy opponents, Joyner is hitting .727 and slugging 1.455.
