PRINCETON, N.J.--Junior Tim Kaijala won his first Ivy crown with a time of 1:49.76 in the 800 meter run Sunday at the Ivy Heptagonal meet in Princeton, N.J. Penn's 4x100 relay team (Kevin Benjamin, Joey Brown, Sam Shepherd, Grafton Ifill)also took home a title with a time of 41.01.
As a team, the Quakers scored 68 points to finish in fourth place.
Kaijala’s title in the 800m and the 4x100m relay wins gave the Red and Blue 20 team points.
With second-place finishes -- good for eight points each -- were Joey Brown clocking a time of 10.65 in the 100m, and the 4x400m team of Andrew Anderson, Benjamin, Kaijala and Shepherd with a time of 3:13.36.
Kyle Calvo’s second-place finish in the decathlon gave the Quakers eight points, and hemetthe NCAA provisional mark with 7,066 points.
Earning six pointswith third-place finishes were Anthony Abitante clearing 5.05m in the pole vault and Brian Goldberg in the 10,000 (30:48.46).
Brown took fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.89 to give the Quakers four more points. Benjamin gave the Quakers one more point in the event with his sixth-place finish at 22.23.
Shepherd took fifth in the 400 with a time of 48.47, while Reid McEwen took fifth in the 5,000 with a time of 14:30.53. Both finishes earned the Quakers two team points.
Mike Hall also earned two team points in the decathlon; he scored 6,526 for fifth place.
Michael Bale rounded out Penn’s scoring witha sixth-placefinish inthe 110-meter hurdles (14.56).
