PHILADELPHIA - Senior Kana Daniel of the University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team is set to compete in her second national tournament in two weeks on Thursday, squaring off at the 2016 Oracle ITA Masters in Malibu, Calif. on Thursday.
Daniel is slotted to face Rice's Katherine Ip, ranked 28th in the nation, in the first round at 12:15 p.m. on the campus of Pepperdine University. The Valencia, Spain native is one of just 32 players invited to participate at the Oracle ITA Masters, and is the lone representative from the Ivy League.
The senior will also compete in the mixed doubles event, partnering with fellow Ivy League competitor from Columbia, Shawn Hadavi. The duo will face Speaks (Furman) and Biosca (ETSU) in the first round.
Last year, Daniel was named First Team All-Ivy in both singles and doubles, compiling a recor of 18-10 in singles, including an 11-5 mar in the spring, winning Ivy matches over Brown, Harvard, Dartmouth and Cornell.
