PHILADELPHIA - With the return to competition this weekend of both Leslie Kovach and Kersie Jhabvala, head coach Blake Boldon has high expectations as the women's cross country team prepares to tackle the Penn State National Invitational on Friday and the Princeton Invitational on Saturday.
"I expect our women's team to be entirely different on Friday compared to at the Paul Short Invitational," said Boldon. "Leslie and Kersie joining us will definitely change our ability to compete up front. The rest of the girls have had a great two weeks of training and are looking for a breakthrough performance as well."
Racing in the Penn State National Invitational a year ago, Penn finished ninth out of 31 schools. Leslie Kovach ran the course in a time of 21:17, good for 19th overall. Then-sophomore Margaret Diacont was 53rd, finishing in 22:05. Jhabvala, Chelsea Delaney and Veronica Salcido all ran the course a year ago as well.
The race at Penn State on Friday will begin at approximately 11 a.m. with the race at Princeton set for 10:30 a.m. Full recaps will be available once results are posted each day.
