PHILADELPHIA Penn sophomore Christina Khosravi was named Ivy League Player of the Week and freshman Emily Denstedt earned Rookie of the Week. This is the first week of the season that Ivy weekly honors have been announced.
Khosravi went 2-for-3 with two runs and three batted in against Chapman (3/5). The San Diego native hit her first collegiate home run while going 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI against Greensboro (3/6). She hit a team-best .467 in 10 games last week and drove in six RBI. Khosravi also led the team in slugging percentage (.667), on-base percentage (.515), runs (7) and total bases (20) during the week.
Denstedt earned Rookie of the Week honors for her work in the circle. She picked up three wins last week pitching 23 and 2/3 innings. The freshman recorded her first collegiate win pitching four scoreless innings in relief against Chapman (3/5). The Alberta native won her first collegiate start against Greensboro (3/6), 12-0, tossing a complete game shutout, while striking out nine batters. She came back to pick up the win in Penn’s second game of the day against Methodist. Denstedt pitched two shutout innings in relief allowing just one hit in Penn’s 6-5 win in eight innings.
