Kinsey Earns First-Team All-Region Honors

PHILADELPHIA - Junior Annie Kinsey was named to the 2007 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic All-Region Softball Team as a first-team selection, the first such honor for a player in Penn softball history. As an All-Region selection, Kinsey is eligible to earn All-America honors.

NFCA-member coaches nominate their players each spring for All-Region honors, and the All-America selections are made by the NFCA Regional Representatives on May 28.

Kinsey, who was recently unanimously voted Ivy League Player of the Year, had a breakout season for the Red and Blue in 2007, and also earned unanimous first-team All-Ivy honors. Kinsey started all 42 games at second base, and finished the season hitting .450, with a .786 slugging percentage and 37 RBI. She broke multiple program records this year, including single-season records for hits (63), runs (53), doubles (15), and home runs (10). Kinsey led the Ivy League in batting average, hits, runs, doubles, on-base percentage, and total bases. She also led the Quakers in slugging percentage and home runs, and was second on the team in RBI.

Kinsey’s performance this year was enough to make a name for herself on the national level. In Division I games through May 13, Kinsey was ranked nationally in four offensive categories: runs per game (2nd), doubles per game (6th), batting average (11th) and slugging percentage (16th).

Two other Ivy League players made the All-Region cut as well: Cornell’s Alyson Intihar was a first-team selection as a utility player, and Big Red teammate Jenna Campagnolo earned second-team honors as an outfielder. All-America honorees will be announced after the selection meeting in Okalahoma City on Monday, May 28.
