PHILADELPHIASophomore Mike Klein of the Penn men’s soccer team earned his second straight Philadelphia Soccer Seven Player of the Week honors Monday.
Klein scored the match-winner Saturday in Penn’s 3-1 win over Harvard. The Quakers’ Ivy League opener featured a frenzied final 10 minutes in which Klein scored the decider and assisted on the Quakers’ third goal that iced the game. Klein also marked assists on both Penn goals in Wednesday’s 3-2 loss to city rival La Salle.
Last week’s PS7 Co-Player of the Week, Klein now leads the team in points with 11 through seven contests, and leads the Soccer Seven in assists and points.
This is Klein’s third career PS7 weekly nod.
Klein and the Quakers (5-2) are back in action Saturday at Cornell. Match time is set for 7 p.m. Last season, Cornell spoiled Penn’s first-ever night game at Rhodes Field by upsetting the host 2-1. Penn will look to return the favor in Ithaca, N.Y. this weekend.
