PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its inaugural weekly awards for men’s lacrosse, and Penn freshman Al Kohart has been named the conference’s Rookie of the Week.
Kohart earned the honor after his performance in Penn’s first two games. He scored twice in his collegiate debut, a 9-8 loss to then-No. 18 Drexel, then followed that up with a team-high three goals in Penn’s 7-6 win over Villanova Saturday afternoon. In that game, Kohart scored Penn’s first two goals, and his third tally gave the Quakers a 5-3 lead in the third quarter. His three goals came on five shots.
Kohart leads the Quakers with five goals and is second on the team with five points.
Penn is back in action twice this weekend for its first two road games, traveling to Denver, Colo., to participate in the Face-Off Classic with host Denver, Air Force, and Brown. The Quakers will play Air Force Saturday at 1 p.m. Eastern (11 a.m. local), and then face the host Pioneers Sunday at 3:30 Eastern (1:30 local).
