PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its weekly honors for men’s lacrosse, and Penn freshman Al Kohart has been named the Rookie of the Week.
This is Kohart’s second time winning the award this season, and marks three times in three weeks a Quakers has received the league’s rookie honor -- last week, Corey Winkoff snared the award.
Kohart led all scorers with four goals in the Quakers’ 9-7, Ivy League-opening win over Yale Saturday in New Haven. Kohart scored twice in the first half, and then had consecutive goals in the third quarter which broke a 5-5 tie and gave the Quakers a lead they would not relinquish.
For the season, Kohart leads Penn with 10 goals, and he also has three assists which gives him 13 points, good for second on the team.
Penn (3-2, 1-0) remains in Ivy League play this weekend, taking on Harvard at 1 p.m. on Franklin Field.
