Kosminskaya in Round of 16

PHILADELPHIA- Penn tennis player Ekaterina Kosminskaya has made itinto the round of 16 at theWilson/ITA East Regional Championships that is being hosted by Penn.

Kosminskaya, who is the fourth seed,got a first round bye and played her first match against Kinsey Pate of James Madison in the second round. Kosminskaya did not give up one game, disposing of Pate 6-0, 6-0.

In the third round Kosminskaya faced Katie Kargl of William and Mary. Kosminskaya easily won the first set 6-2, but lost the second set in a tie-breaker, 7-6. She finally routed Kargl to take the final set, 6-3. Kosminskaya is set to play Lauren Cash of Boston College in round of 16.

In other Penn tennis action, Lauren Sadaka easily won her first round match, 6-2, 6-2over KelleyLoRusso of UConn, but fell to No. 17 Natalia Sanchez of Cornell, 6-3, 6-4. In doubles play, the No. 4 seeded team of Kosminskaya and Alexa Ely won their first round match, 8-6, to Liebschner/Verow of Seton Hall. The duo fell out in the second round when they were defeated by Harijanto/Popescu of Buffalo, 8-5.
