Lange to Play in Finals at CSA Championships

PHILADELPHIA – University of Pennsylvania women’s squash player Kristen Lange played her way into the finals of the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships Saturday with upset victories in the quarter and semifinal rounds.

Lange swept No. 2 seed Lily Lorentzen (9-7, 9-3, 9-0) in the quarterfinals of the Ramsay Division. In the semifinals, she pulled off another sweep. This time over No. 6 seed Neha Kumar (9-4, 9-2, 9-0). Sunday Lange will play No. 1 seed Kyla Grig at 1 p.m.

In the Holleran Division, fellow freshman Christina Matthias advanced to the semifinals with a win over Jennifer Coxe, 3-0 (9-5, 9-5, 9-7). She lost in her semifinal match to Fernanda Rocha, 3-0 (9-3, 9-4, 9-6).

In the Ramsay Division Second Round Consolation play, Sydney Scott beat Joann Lee, 3-0 (10-8, 9-3, 9-5) in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, she beat Casey Riley, 3-2. Scott lost Games 1 and 2; 9-5 and 9-4. She went on to win the final three games; 109, 9-6, and 9-3. Scott plays Alia Aziz in the finals at 10:30 a.m.

Tara Chawla and Paula Pearson also played in the second round consolation draw. Chawla lost to Aziz, 3-1 (9-6, 10-9, 2-9, 9-1). Pearson fell to Lauren Polanich in the quarterfinals, 3-0 (9-3, 9-2, 9-5).
