Complete ECAC Release
PHILADELPHIA - For the second time this month, Laura DiPaolo has been named ECAC Specialist of the Week. The senior helped Penn claim Penn back-to-back Ivy Classics for the first time since 2000 as the Quakers set team-highs on the vault and uneven bars. DiPaolo competed in both of these events at the Ivy meet. Her afternoon was highlighted by a third place finish on vault.
With Penn sitting in second place overall after two rotations at the Ivy Classic and coming to the vault, DiPaolo stuck a 9.725. Her routine capped a 48.400 team score for the Quakers in the event. This bested Penn's previous best team vault by 15-hundredths of a point and was the second-best team vault in program history. DiPaolo has now scored at least 9.725 on five of her seven vaults this season. She is currently ranked sixth amongst ECAC gymnasts on vault with a regional qualifying average of 9.725.
On bars, DiPaolo was part of a rotation that scored a season-best 48.700 overall, the third-highest mark in the history of the program. This was also the fifth time in seven meets this season that the Quakers have eclipsed the 48 point mark for the event. In this meet, they beat their previous season high on the event by two-tenths of a point.
Gymnastics will be back in action this weekend when Southern Connecticut comes to town for the last home meet of the season before the ECAC Championships. This upcoming meet will get underway Saturday, March 3 at 1 p.m.
