The Matthews-Leonard Cup
Penn vs. Cornell and Harvard

THE RACE - The Penn lightweight rowing team travels to Cornell this Saturday to compete for the Matthews-Leonard Cup against the Big Red and Harvard. The Quakers are coming off a successful spring debut that saw them beat Rutgers and Saint Joseph's in the Lev-Brett Cup last weekend. The varsity 8 pulled away from the field just past the halfway mark in the race, and Rutgers caught an overhand crab at the 500-meter mark to allow Penn to cruise to a 6:45.2 first-place finish. The Hawks were 3.1 seconds back and Rutgers finished in 6:56.2.
