Lightweight Rowing Finishes Second in Petite Final at IRA Regatta

CAMDEN, N.J. – After finishing fifth in their morning heat on Saturday, the University of Pennsylvania men’s lightweight rowing varsity 8 had a strong race in the Petite Final at the IRA Regatta, taking second-place. Penn finished eighth overall, its best finish since 2005 when they placed third.

Penn would end up battling closely with Princeton in both races. In the morning heat, the Tigers edged Penn by one second. Princeton crossed the finish line at 5:56.274 to the Quakers’ 5:57.862.

In the Petite Final, Penn hung in and raced the Tigers tough, coming in at 5:56.930 to Princeton’s 5:53.874. Fellow EARC opponent Columbia finished third at 5:57.529.
