PRINCETON, N.J. - Fall season came to a close with another quality race day for the University of Pennsylvania lightweights. The Quakers placed a boat in the top six among lightweights in each of their three races on Sunday at the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie.
To open the morning, Penn's top boat finished fifth in the varsity 8+ race. Among the 32 boats in the head race, the Quakers' time of 13:53.398 trailed only the top boats from Cornell, Princeton, Yale and Navy, respectively, and bested the top crews from Harvard, Delaware, Georgetown and Dartmouth.
Penn also had the second 'B' boat in the race, which finished eighth overall at 13:58.961 and was only bested by the 'B' crew from Princeton by four seconds. In all, Penn had five boats in the event and also finished 17th, 24th and 30th, respectively.
Lightweights were mixed with heavyweights in the freshman race. The Quakers were also fifth in this event among lightweight boats and were 12th overall with a time of 14:41.263.
In the fours, Penn finished sixth with a time of 15:28.865.
