Lightweights Head to New York City Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – For the first time this spring, the University of Pennsylvania men’s lightweight rowing team will leave the Schuylkill River behind when they head to New York, N.Y., to compete for the Dodge Cup against Ivy rivals Columbia and Yale at Orchard Beach Lagoon.

A complete list of Penn’s probable boatings can be found below.

The Quakers were not able to race against Harvard and Cornell last weekend due to unsafe river conditions on the Schuylkill. However, during single-file time trials, the Big Red—two-time defending national champions—finished with a better time to take home the Matthews-Leonard Cup.

Last season in the meeting between these schools, Yale took home the Dodge Cup with a win on their home course in Connecticut.

The Bulldogs have already claimed the Johnson Cup and Joy Cup in their two regatta’s this spring. Columbia finished third in their competition last weekend with Princeton and Navy.

Complete results of the regatta can be found at PennAthletics.com shortly after the conclusion of the competition.
