PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania men’s lightweight rowing team returns to action on Saturday, April 30th to compete for the Callow Cup against the Navy Midshipmen on the Schuylkill River. Races are set to begin at 8:40 a.m. in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Callow Cup is rowed annually by Penn and Navy dating back to its establishment in 1955 and has been contested every year since. The Quakers have claimed the cup on 28 occasions while the Midshipmen have earned 33 wins. Penn won the regatta a year ago by half a second over Navy in 2015 when it was contested on the Severn River in Annapolis, Md.

Saturday’s regatta marks the final of four straight weekends of competition for the Quakers as they ready for the Eastern Springs and IRA. The Quakers competed for the Wood-Hammond Cup last weekend and will have two weeks rest before the Eastern Sprints on May 14-15th in Worcester, Mass.
