Lightweights to Race Navy for Callow Cup

PHILADELPHIA – On Saturday, the University of Pennsylvania men’s lightweight rowing team will go head-to-head with Navy on the Severn River in Annapolis, Md., for the rights to the Callow Cup. In what will be the home opener for Navy, a complete listing of the tentative Penn boatings for this weekend can be found below.

In the last meeting with Navy, the Midshipmen narrowly beat out the Red and Blue for the win. In doing so, Navy claimed the Callow Cup and broke the tie in overall Cup wins, currently leading 27-26.

Last week, the Quakers were unable to claim the Wood-Hammond Trophy from Princeton, but, with some decent weather for the first time this month, the team did finish with one of its best times of the season in the Varsity 8 race. Navy is coming off of a narrow defeat to Harvard – losing by less than a second.

Complete results from Annapolis, Md., can be found at www.PennAthletics.com shortly after the conclusion of the regatta.
