PHILADELPHIA - The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has named its 2015 All-ECAC teams, and University of Pennsylvania senior defender Paige Lombard was honored as a second-team selection.
Lombard is the fourth Penn player to earn All-ECAC honors in the seven-year history of the program; the most recent was Caroline Dwyer, who was a second-team selection in 2013. Prior to that, Jessica Fuccello was a first-team selection in 2009 -- the first year the teams were picked -- while Adrienne Lerner was a second-team pick in 2011.
A transfer from the University of Miami (Fla.), Lombard missed the entire 2014 campaign which gives her another year of eligibility next season. In her return to the field this fall, Lombard was the anchor of a defense that gave up just 11 goals -- the third-fewest goals allowed in a season in the program's 25-year history -- and posted a 0.63 goals-against average in 16 matches. In addition, Lombard was the Quakers' second-leading scorer this season with three tallies.
Also a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection this year, Lombard was one of just seven Ivy Leaguers named to the Mid-Atlantic All-Region teams.Penn finished the season with a 6-4-6 overall record, and went 1-2-4 in Ivy League play to tie for fifth place.
