PHILADELPHIA -Penn junior forward Mark Zoller was named the Ivy League Player of the Week. It is the first time Zoller has been honored this season by the conference office; earlier this season he earned Big 5 Player of the Week.
Zoller received the conference honor after posting a pair of double-doubles this weekend against Harvard and Dartmouth. In the Quakers' 74-71, overtime victory against the Crimson Friday night, he put together a monster performance -- playing all 45 minutes, he came up with 13 points, a career-high 18 rebounds, and a career-best five blocked shots as well as three steals. One night later,in Penn's 68-52 win overthe Big Green, he scored a game-high 17 points and snared 11 boards while dishing out three assists.
Zoller, who is second in the conference in rebounds per game (8.9), leads the Quakers into action this weekend at Yale (Friday) and Brown (Saturday). Penn can clinch a share of the Ivy League title with one win this weekend, and its magic number is two in securing the Ivy's NCAA Tournament bid -- any combination of two Penn wins or Princeton losses will give the Quakers the berth.
