PHILADELPHIA - The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) has announced the Division I PING All-Region Teams for the 2012-13 men's golf season, and for the third time in as many seasons University of Pennsylvania junior Max Marsico has been named to the Northeast Region squad.

Marsico is one of seven Ivy League players named the Northeast Region squad along with Dartmouth’s James Pleat, Columbia’s Harrison Shih, Sam Bernstein and Brad Kushner of Yale, and Greg Jarmas and Quinn Prchal of Princeton.

Marsico played in eight of Penn’s nine tournaments this past year, and was also the Quakers’ No. 1 at the Ivy Match Play event in the fall. He had a career-best 72.9 stroke average in 20 tourney rounds, nearly two strokes better than any of his teammates, and was the Quakers’ low scorer in every tournament he finished. Marsico earned his first All-Ivy honor this spring, tying for second place at the Ivy League Championships to gain first-team recognition. He also had top-five finishes at the CHAMPS/Patriot Intercollegiate, the Princeton Invitational, and the Navy Spring Invitational (where Penn won the team title). At the Ivy Match Play, Marsico went 3-0 in the No. 1 spot.

Marsico has been individual medalist at three tournaments during his career, all of them coming his sophomore season at the Navy Spring Invitational, the George Washington Invitational, and the University of Maryland Intercollegiate.
