PHILADELPHIA - Freshman Lauren Martin of the Penn volleyball team was named the Ivy League Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Martin was a model of consistency for the Red and Blue, while helping the team to a 2-1 record at the Towson Invitational. The first year recorded double-digit kills in each of her three matches over the weekend, totaling 37 kills (3.08) while hitting a team-high .290. For her efforts, she was named to the all-tournament team.In a four-set winoverBall State, the freshman had 13 kills, three digs and two total blocks in Penn's four-set win.
Junior Madison Wojciechowski was named to the Ivy League honor roll after her performance at the Towson Invitational. She was honored with an all-tournament selection following her second consecutive weekend with a 30 digs effort.The Penn junior had 31 digs in a 3-2 win over host Towson and finished the weekend with 65 digs (5.33) overall.
The Quakers return to action on Friday at 4 p.m. when they play St. Francis (Pa.) in the second match of the Holiday Inn HD Tournament at the Palestra.
