PHILADELPHIA The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced its ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District softball team on Thursday. Penn senior Olivia Mauro was named First-Team in District II for the second year in a row. To be eligible for consideration a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore and a starter or key reserve with a 3.2 GPA. The teams were voted on by CoSIDA members.
Mauro finished the season with a 4.67 ERA, and a 5-4 record. She made 20 appearances for the Quakers, including nine starts and two saves. Mauro was a part of a pitching staff that improved their overall ERA from 4.71 last year to 3.53 this year. The staff as a whole walked 67 fewer batters, and allowed 16 fewer home runs, on the way to earning 23 wins, the most in Penn softball history.
Mauro, a first-team selection, is now eligible to be selected for Academic All-America.
