PHILADELPHIA Penn sophomore baseball player, Tim May, has garnered two weekly awards for his performance to start the season. Monday he was named Philadelphia Big 5 Baseball Player of the Week. Tuesday he was honored by the College Baseball Foundation on their "Players of the Week" list.
May batted .632 with five doubles and eight RBI during the Quakers’ spring break trip to Florida. He went 12-for-19 in five games with five doubles, a triple and home run for a 1.053 slugging percentage. His best performance was a 4-for-5, five RBI showing against St. Bonaventure on Wednesday. The sophomore first baseman is riding a five-game hitting streak and is hitting a team-best .536 in eight games.
The Quakers will be back in action Wednesday, when they host Temple in their home opener at Meiklejohn Stadium at 3 p.m.
