McGuinness Wins Twice and Advances to Molloy Division First Round Consolation Final

PHILADELPHIA - With his back already against the wall coming into the day, Trevor McGuinness knew that he had to be on top of his game right from the start of his matches. With no margin for error, McGuinness left everything he had on the courts, advancing to the First Round Consolation Finals tomorrow morning with consecutive victories. His final match of the season will come tomorrow 12:30 p.m.

In his first match of the day, McGuinness took the opening game by a tight 11-9 margin. From that point on, he just took over, allowing three points in the final two games to his opponent.

In his consolation semi-final, Peter Nolan from Kenyon College awaited him. However, McGuinness just carried over his performance from the first match into the second. He took the first two games by the same 11-8 score in each. In the third game, Nolan picked up a tie-break victory 14-12 to get back in the match at 2-1. It would get no closer however, as McGuinness took the fourth game 11-6 to advance to the consolation final on Sunday.

In his consolation final, McGuiness will square off with Vir Seth of St. Lawrence University. Seth came into the tournament as the 39th-seeded player. McGuinness will be looking to capture his fourth straight match in the consolation round to end his season on a high note.
