McMullen Named Ivy League Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its weekly honors for men's lacrosse, and Penn senior attackman Rob McMullen was named the Player of the Week. It is his first honor from the Ivy office, and the first by a Penn player this season.

McMullen's honor was well-deserved. He figured in five of Penn's last six goals in Saturday's 8-7 win against Villanova at Franklin Field, scoring four of them and assisting on another. His fourth and final goal was the game-winner and came with two minutes left in regulation. McMullen entered the season with nine collegiate goals, but has scored 12 already this season and the Quakers haven't even hit the halfway point of their season.

In addition to McMullen's honor, freshman Rob Fitzpatrick earned a spot on the Ivy League honor roll after he scored five goals in a pair of wins last week.

After an 0-2 start, Penn has won four in a row for the first time since starting the 2005-06 season with six consecutive victories. The Quakers are at Maryland later today, then they open their Ivy League season this Saturday, traveling to Princeton for a 1 p.m. start against the Tigers.
