PHILADELPHIA - Quakers fans will have more than just the action on the field to look forward to this weekend when the Penn football team takes on the Yale Bulldogs Saturday at Franklin Field. Fans will have a chance to meet Hall of Famer and Penn Alum Chuck Bednarik as Penn Athletics welcomes him back for a book signing for his new biography, Concrete Charlie: An Oral History of Philadelphia's Greatest Football Legend Chuck Bednarik.

The book signing will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24 in the Quaker's Corner Fan Zone (located in the southwest corner of Franklin Field) during the first half of play between the Quakers and Bulldogs. Kick-off is at 3:30 p.m. and Quaker's Corner opens 60 minutes prior. Bednarik will be signing through halftime.

Bednarik, who grew up in Bethelehem, Pa., is a true Philadelphia legend. He played both center and linebacker for the University of Pennsylvania under Hall of Fame coach George Munger in the 1940s. Upon his graduation from the University, he was chosen first overall in the NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1949. He played on both sides of the ball for the Eagles from the 1949 season until his retirement after the 1962 season. Bednarik was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1967 and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame two years later.

The biography also includes interviews with more than 140 people who have known, watched, and played with and against him.
