PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its weekly awards in women's soccer, and Penn freshman forward Megan York has been honored as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
This is York's first weekly award this season, and the second by a Penn women's soccer player. Marin McDermott was the Ivy's Player of the Week on Sept. 5.
York was noted for her two-goal, one-assistperformance in Sunday's 3-0 win over Saint Francis (Pa.). The win was Penn's ninth in a row at Rhodes Field, and pushed the Quakers' overall record to 8-2-0 for 2011. Penn also defeated Cornell, 2-1, on Friday night to move to 1-1-0 in Ivy League play.
York -- whose four goals this seasonare second on the team -- had four shots on goal against Cornell, and put three of her five shots against Saint Francis on the cage.
