PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania’s head men’s golf coach, Jason Calhoun, has announced his incoming recruits for the 2017-18 season. Two young men, Brandon Wang and Mitchell Cornell, will be freshmen on this year’s team.
“I am very excited to have Brandon and Mitchell join the Penn men’s golf team,” said Calhoun, who was recently hired and enters his first season coaching the Quakers in 2017-18. “They bring a great deal of high-caliber competitive experience to the squad. I expect both of them to compete for travel spots right away.”

High School: Ranked as high as 76th in Golfweek junior rankings … Had seven top-10 finishes in AJGA events from 2013-17 … Qualified for the 2016 Junior Worlds as well as the Wester Junior … Won the IMG Junior World Championship (Florida) Challenge in 2015 … National Honor Society member.
Personal: Son of Lisa Wu and Jay Wang … Enrolled in the Wharton School of Business.

High School: Lettered in golf, cross country and basketball at Incline High School … Captain of golf and cross country teams … Helped the Highlanders win the Division III state championship in 2015 … Two-time Division III individual state champion, in 2015 and 2016 … Set the Division III State Championship record in 2016 with an 8-under-par score across two rounds … Four-time individual Northern Division III champion (2013-16) … Two-time state Division III Player of the Year (2015-16) … National Honor Society member … One of 12 AJGA Scholastic All-Americans nationally in 2015 … Sophomore Class President … Senior Class Treasurer.
