Men's Soccer Announces 2016 Schedule

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men’s soccer team will take to Rhodes Field eight times as part of a 17-game slate for 2016 as announced by Rudy Fuller, the James C. Gentle Head Coach of Men’s Soccer.

Once again, Fuller has put together a scheduled worthy of a team looking to test itself and traverse the country to take on top competition.

On September 9, the Quakers will head to Omaha to take on Creighton at Morrison Stadium. The Blue Jays spent portions of the 2015 season ranked No. 1 and would go on to play in the NCAA College Cup Quarterfinals – their fourth trip to the quarters in the past five years.

On September 20, the Red and Blue will again head on the road to take on a team which played in the 2015 national tournament when Penn heads to defending Patriot League champion Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks went 13-6-3 last season.

Penn’s final game against NCAA Tournament teams from last season is also a road match. Penn will take on Ivy League champion Dartmouth in Hanover on October 15.

The season will begin at Rhodes Field as the Quakers will host American on September 2. Penn will return home after a three-game road swing to begin Philadelphia Soccer Six play against La Salle on September 17. Penn’s second Soccer Six match of the season is on the Main Line against Villanova on October 19.

In addition to the two PS6 contests, the Quakers will renew their rivalry with Drexel at Rhodes Field on September 24 in the annual University City Derby.

Homecoming Weekend will see the Red and Blue host Brown at 7:30 p.m. on October 29. Senior Day will conclude the regular season against Harvard on November 12 at 5 p.m.

All eyes are on Houston, Texas – the site of the 2016 NCAA College Cup December 11-13 at BBVA Compass Stadium.

The Quakers return 15 letterwinners and eight starters from last year’s squad, including second-team all-Ivy forward Alec Neumann and honorable mention All-Ivy defender Sam Wancowicz.
