PHILADELPHIA – The Ivy League has announced its weekly award winners in men’s soccer, and University of Pennsylvania freshman forward Sam Hefter was tabbed as the Ivy League Co-Rookie of the Week. Hefter was also named Philadelphia Soccer Six (PS6) Rookie of the Week, while teammate Etan Mabourakh claimed PS6 Defensive Player of the Week honors.
This marks the first career weekly honors for both players.
Hefter notched his first career goal in dramatic fashion
over the weekend, netting the golden goal game-winner against Philadelphia
rival La Salle in the 108th minute. The rookie took three of Penn's season-high 21 shots during the contest.
Mabourakh continued his strong start in the net for the Red and Blue, earning the first shutout of his career against the Explorers. The sophomore collected three saves in the 1-0 victory for Penn.
