Men and Women Swimming Make the Grade

PHILADELPHIA -- The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced its 2014 Fall CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams, and both the University of Pennsylvania men’s and women’s programs received the honor. Supported by Nike Swim, the award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Out of the 65 teams to make the grades for the award on the men’s side, the Quakers had the 24th best GPA on the list at 3.23. A total of five in the Ancient Eight made the cut, and Penn ranked third-best among its rivals.

For the women, a total of 132 programs made the grades necessary to garner the award. The Red and Blue posted an even 3.30 GPA in the fall, and were one of five Ivy teams on the list.

Penn will have the opportunity to repeat its academic honors a few months down the line, when the CSCAA names its Scholar All-America teams for the Spring 2015 semester.
