PHILADELPHIA -The University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team officially tipped off the 2014-15 season on Thursday, taking advantage of the long weekend off from classes to go with a double session on its first day of practice in the John R. Rockwell Gymnasium.
The Quakers will officially be unveiled to the public on Saturday, Oct. 25 when the Red and Blue Scrimmages take place alongside the women's program. Penn's first game will be Saturday, Nov. 15 when the Red and Blue hosts Delaware State at 4:30 p.m., following the Penn football game with Harvard at 1 p.m.
Penn returns five letterwinners from last season, led by the junior duo ofTony Hicks(14.9 points per game) andDarien Nelson-Henry(10.6 ppg, 5.3 rebounds per game).The Quakers also welcome back several players who missed a majority of last season due to injury, andsix freshmen have joined the roster for the upcoming season. In all, 15 players were suited up for action on Thursday.
