Men's Basketball Starts Preseason Practices

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team held its first official practice on Monday afternoon at The Palestra, officially tipping off the 2013-14 season. The Penn Sports Network was on hand to record some of the action and talk to the John R. Rockwell Head Coach of Men's Basketball, Jerome Allen, as well as seniors Fran Dougherty and Dau Jok.

Under Coach Allen, who will be at the helm for his fourth full season, the Quakers return all 15 players from a year ago and add five newcomers to the roster.

Penn opens the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 9 when the Quakers host Temple in the earliest Big 5 game, by date, in history. The schedule also includes back-to-back games with Big Ten opponents, home against Penn State (Nov. 16) and at Iowa (Nov. 22), as well as a trip to George Mason (Jan. 2). Penn opens the Ivy League slate on Jan. 11 against Princeton at The Palestra.
