PRINCETON, N.J. - Fighting the elements and a host of talented Ivy League competition, the men's cross country team finished eighth at this year's Heptagonal Championships, hosted by Princeton. George Dickson finished with a time of 26:02.7 to finish in 42nd place and lead the way for the Quakers.
With the weather changing over from a cold rain to a heavy, wet snow in the minutes preceding the start of the men's race, conditions were less than ideal from the very beginning. The host Tigers were able to power through the familiar terrain with four runners finishing among the top ten as Princeton won the men's race with 37 points. Dartmouth's Ethan Shaw was the individual winner, coming in with a time of 24:47.6, a tenth of a second ahead of Columbia's Kyle Merber.
Coming in short order behind Dickson were Mike Kiley (26:05.2, 45th), Kevin Foy (26:07.6, 46th) and Mike Vido (26:08.5, 47th). Gus McKenzie rounded out the scoring for the Quakers with a time of 26:22.9, putting him in 53rd.
The next meet for the Quakers comes in two weeks when theytake partin the NCAA East Regional at Princess Anne, Md. That race is set for Saturday, Nov.12 at 11 a.m.
