Men's Cross Country Finishes Second, Baird in First

PRINCETON, N.J.--The Penn men's cross country team finished second in both the 6K and 8K races at the Old Nassau Run in Princeton, N.J., while sophomore Chris Baird led all runners in the 8K race.

With Baird leading the way in the 8K,with a time of 25:20.10, senior Sean McGinley rounded out the top five at 25:46.00. Philip Cawkwell, John Cassidy and Kevin Sullivan finished in the top 25 to score for Penn. The Quakers scored 50 points, two shy of Columbia in first.

The the 6K race, freshman Isaac Ortiz (20:10.00)and senior Clayton Smith (20:13.70) led Penn and finished in the top 15. Jeff Weinstein, Tarik Aougab and Michael Cunningham also scored for Penn and finished in the top 35. The Quakers scored 70 points in second place while Princeton ran away with the race and 11 of the top 12 times.

Penn is back in action on Oct. 3 at the Paul Short Invitational.
