PHILADELPHIA--The Penn men's cross country team will take to the course at Van Cortlandt Park Fridayin Bronx, N.Y. for the Heptagonal Championships.The Quakers will be bringing a 19-man team to the race with Penn's top finisher last season, Brian Goldberg leading the way. The race is set to start at 11:45 a.m.
At the 2006 race, Penn finished sixth with 123 points. Goldberg clocked a team-leading time of 25:02.4 and finished 11th overall. Three other scorers from last season's Heps--Reid McEwen, Brian Trembley and Larry Contrella--return this season, though McEwen suffered an injury at Pre-Nationals two weeks ago.
This season, freshman Anguel Tolev has been a strong competitor for the Red and Blue scoring in the three races he competed in this season. He ran his season best 25:03 at the Paul Short Invite earlier this season.
Fellow freshman Luke Grau has contributed to the scoring and finished as the top overall runner at the Delaware Invite.
Following Heps, Penn will head to the NCAA Qualifier in Bethlehem, Pa., Nov. 10.
