PHILADELPHIA - The Quakers are back in action after a weekend off, when they race in the Heptagonal Championships at Van Cortlandt Park on Friday morning at 11:45 a.m.
Penn enters the competition after finishing ninth out of 27 teams at the Penn State Invitational on Oct. 16. In that race senior Luke Grau led the Penn contingent with a 20th place finish in a time of 25:53. Fellow classmates Christopher Baird and Phil Cawkwell were the next to cross, finishing 32nd and 49th in times of 26:05 and 26:19 respectively.
The three upperclassmen have led the Quakers this year as each has been the Red and Blue's top finisher on at least one occasion. They also hope to improve on the team's eighth place finish each of the past two seasons. As a freshman, Grau was the team's seventh finisher as Penn took third in the race, its best finish since 2004.
