PHILADELPHIA - The men's cross country team will run in the Mid-Atlantic Regional on Saturday, hosted by the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore. The 10k race, the longest the Red and Blue have run this season, will start at 12 p.m.
Ranked 14th in the Mid-Atlantic Region but coming off a disappointing finish at the Heptagonal Championships, the Quakers will try to regroup against a talented field that counts three nationally ranked opponents in #9 Princeton, #13 Villanova and #23 Georgetown among the 30 participating squads.
In last season's meet held at Penn State, Penn finished sixth out of 28 with Kevin Foy and Ryan Cunningham the holdovers from the 2010 team. Foy is the top returner, having finished that event in 31:46 and 54th overall.
Along with those returnees, George Dickson, Mike Kiley and Mike Vido are among those who look to play a prominent role in this weekend's race for the Quakers. Dickson, Kiley and Foy, all juniors, were the top three finishers for Penn two weeks ago at Heps.
