PHILADELPHIA - Now in his 28th season at the University of Pennsylvania, and his 22nd as the James P. Tuppeny Head Coach of Cross Country/Track & Field, Charlie Powell has announced the Quakers' 2010 men's cross country schedule. The Red and Blue start the year in Princeton, N.J., with the hopes of ending it in Terre Haute, Ind.

For those who follow the Quakers, there won't be too many surprises in the 2010 schedule. The men's campaign is in similar form to years past. The team will start the season on Sept. 11 by traveling to Van Cortlandt Park in New York City for the Fordham Fiasco.

A week later, the team heads to Van Cortlandt Park in New York City for the Iona Meet of Champions. The Quakers have competed at the meet in each of the last two seasons, placing seventh out of 23 teams in 2009 and eighth out of 24 teams in 2008.

The following Saturday, the Quakers are at the University of Delaware for the Delaware Invitational and a week later, travel to their fourth state in as many weeks with the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.

After a much deserved week off, the team has one more warm up before the Heps Championships as they head to State College, Pa., for the Penn State Invitational on Oct. 16. Then on Oct. 29, Van Cortlandt Park will once again serve as host to the Heps Championships.

Penn, which finished 12th at the Regional meet last year, will then bring its qualifiers to the District Meet at State College on Nov. 13 with the hopes of sending some members of the Red and Blue to the National Championships in Terre Haute on Nov. 22.
