PHILADELPHIA - Facing the final weekend of hurdles before Heptagonals, the men's cross country team will take part in two races on Friday and Saturday, first venturing to Penn State for the Penn State National Invitational before a small contingent takes part in the Princeton Invitational on Saturday. The Princeton Invitational will be run on the same course as this year's Heptagonal Championships.
A year ago in State College, the team placed ninth out of 27 schools, with Ryan Cunningham (83rd, 26:53) being the top Quaker returner. A number of other returnees also are familiar with the course as John Foye (27:25), Mike Vido (27:30) and Neb Osman (28:03) took part in last year's event as well.
Following a 34th place finish at the Paul Short Invitational two weeks ago, head coach Blake Boldon challenged his team, ranked 12th in the Mid-Atlantic Region, to improve over the coming weeks. "The men's team continues to evolve with different leaders stepping up on a regular basis. Right now, we need to find that chip on our shoulder and this weekend will give us that opportunity," said Boldon.
Friday's race is set to begin at 10 a.m. while the Princeton Invitational will take place at 10:30 a.m. Full recaps will follow once results are posted.
