Penn's Day 1 Results
Princeton, N.J. - The Quakers split their two matches on Saturday in the first day of the Ivy League Championships held at Princeton.
Penn opened the day with a 16-11 loss to Harvard but rebounded nicely with a 15-12 victory over Columbia in the second round of action. The Crimson sit atop the standings with Yale, with both schools posting 2-0 records. The Quakers and Princeton are tied for third with 1-1 records.
Against the Crimson, foil won 5-4 while epee lost 5-4 and sabre fell 7-2. Facing the Lions, foil impressed with a 6-3 record. Sabre also won 6-3 and epee lost 6-3. Junior Vidur Kapur had the best two-round record of any Penn fencer, finishing 5-1 in foil, highlighted by a 3-0 against Columbia. Classmate and foilist Zane Grodman finished 4-2. Freshman Clifford Fishler finished with a 3-2 mark in epee and sophomore Evan Prochniak leads sabre with a 3-3 record
