Philadelphia, Pa. -The University of Pennsylvania men's fencing team was perfect on Saturday in competition in Weightman Gym. TheQuakers defeated Rutgers 14-13 and John's Hopkins 23-4.
Mike Galligan had a perfect 6-0 performance in the foil while Ron Berkowsky went 4-1 for the dayin the weapon. In the sabre, Zachary Yeates finished with a 3-3 record on the day while Jon Press went 3-2 for the Quakers.
In the epee, Alex Tozzo recorded a 3-0 day while Jon Gale was 4-1 on the weapon for the Red and Blue.
It was the second sweepof the season for the Quakers, who swept Duke, Haverford and Drew at the Penn State Multi Meet on Jan. 22.
The Quakers are next in action on Saturday, Feb. 5 when they travel to Harvard with Boston College and New York University.
