Men's Golf Announces Class of 2013

PHILADELPHIA - University of Pennsylvania men’s golf head coach Scott Allen has announced his incoming class for the 2009 season. The program’s Class of 2013 will feature three recruited student-athletes -- two of whom graduated high school in June, and another who spent last year at Southern Methodist University (SMU). He will have four years of playing eligibility at Penn.

“I am very excited about my first recruiting class at Penn,” said Allen, who enters his second year with the Quakers. “I believe that our three newcomers are all going to fit in nicely with the squad both on and off the course. I expect all of them to challenge for starting spots quickly in the fall.”

These three incoming players will join a squad that returns five letterwinners from the 2008-09 season, led by first-team All-Ivy honoree Scotty Williams. Penn finished second at the 2009 Ivy League Championships, just a stroke behind champion Columbia.

Penn will be further bolstered by the return of Chance Pipitone, who was Ivy League runner-up for the Quakers as a freshman in 2007. He has returned to the University after transferring to Duke following the 2007 fall semester.
